How are you found organically by search engines? That is what everyone with a website wants to know. Especially if you are going to blog to get more traffic to your website, you will ask yourself this question. How does being found organically work? I am sharing a number of tips that you can apply immediately.

Being found organically – 10 tips

Organic Results

1. Do your keyword research

Step 1 is that you will write about topics that your target group wants to read about. Most companies write about topics they find interesting. But readers look for blogs and websites that answer their questions. If you answer the questions that your target audience has, those readers will come naturally.

How do you conduct keyword research? What I do is make an overview of the topics that I cover on my website. Then I wonder what the visitor wants to know. Suppose you are a personal injury lawyer. What are the questions your clients always have? Start with the main topics and develop this further into the subtopics. For example: when am I entitled to personal injury compensation. That is your sub-topic that may come under personal injury law

2. Watch your competitors

If you want to rank higher in Google, you want to know who to beat. See who your competitors are in Google. And not only on you main Keywords like What is SEO or What is Backlinks. But also on those keywords that you have come up with as being the secondary or long tail versions of your primary keywords. Who scores high on that. And why do they score so well? Read their articles. Are the articles very extensive, or have they written a lot of articles.

3. Do it differently from your competitor

You want the visitor to go to your article, not your competitor’s article. That means that you want to write different (better!) articles than your competitor. Check out your competitor’s articles and ask yourself: what do I think about this article, what information is missing. And is this topic suitable for my clients? If you’re writing an article about that topic and those keywords, write it yourself. Don’t copy your competitor’s article.

4. Choose a good title

If you want to be found organically, you have to stand out in the search results. Preferably you are on the first page, then in the top 5 results and then of course you go for the number 1 position. The first thing you notice is the title of your post. This title should reflect what your blog is about and stimulate at the same time. “Everything about personal injury” or “When are you entitled to personal injury claims? Do You want to know this! ”. Which of the two titles excites you?

5. The meta description is stimulating

The meta description is the piece of text that you see in Google under the title. In it you describe what your article is about. You return the most important keyword. The description again should be as catchy as possible. You want the visitor to go to your article and not your competitor’s article. So being found organically starts with the right keyword, a good title and an interesting meta description.

6. Be relevant

Google measures how much interest a visitor has in your website. The session duration is looked at (how long a visitor stays on your site), the visitor then reads more articles or the visitor returns to Google, looking for a different result. From this Google can read how relevant your articles are for the search terms. How do you do this?

7. Optimal user experience

So you want the visitor to stay on your website. You ensure this by giving the visitor an optimal user experience. The website must be optimized for this. A short loading time (within a few seconds, preferably within one), texts are legible (font, color) and the website is clear.

8. Write for your target audience

The only way to keep your visitors on your website is to write for your target audience . Make your target group very specific. So not everyone who is interested in personal injury. But: anyone who wants to claim personal injury after a car accident. And you write for that target group. That way, all articles on your site are of interest to your specific target group.

9. Make use of video

Google likes it when you put more than just text in your articles (not like in this article). Make use of photos, videos, downloads, tables and the like. That way your text becomes interactive.

10. Use subheadings

A reader does not read an article, a reader scans the online articles. Therefore, make extensive use of subheadings and lists. That way the reader knows where to find which information. In the introduction, you write very clear what information he can expect. In the subheading, you also process the keyword or synonyms.

Use some of these tactics and you can expect better and bigger results. It wont happen immediatly as SEO is gradual but these tips will still help.
